Why the Teriyaki Burger?
Teriyaki is one of the most famous Japanese flavors in the US but here’s the surprise. Growing up in Japan, I rarely ate teriyaki chicken or salmon at restaurants.
(Yes, they exist — just not that common, at least for me.)
While it’s common in the US for teriyaki to show up in chicken bowls or bento plate, for many Japanese people, the most familiar dish is actually the Teriyaki Burger.
At fast-food chains and neighborhood spots alike, the Teriyaki Burger became a comfort food: sweet, savory, familiar, and unmistakably Japanese. It’s not about tradition or fine dining, but about what people actually grew up eating.
At Meat Time, we wanted to honor that memory while applying the same care and craftsmanship we bring to our yakiniku. Our Teriyaki Burger is simple, intentional, and rooted in nostalgia: an American classic filtered through a Japanese lens.
That’s why our hamburgers are available to-go for weekday dinners, and Saturdays & Sundays for lunch—made with the same care as everything else we serve.
